About Flor de Maria Paredes Mattos

Flor de Maria Paredes Mattos

I am an intercultural executive coach that advises companies and professionals worldwide.

With more than two decades of corporate experience, I specialise in professional development and business cultures, with a focus on helping executives in high-performance cultures develop their leadership styles, navigate career transitions, and support their teams.

I work across nearly every sector at every level in my coaching practice, from university graduate students to entrepreneurs to senior operations managers, directors and department heads, and the C-suite.

Aside from my coaching and advisory practice, I am also an executive director of the Empowerment Foundation, a non-profit organisation with a mission is to help strengthen the European labour market through the empowerment of its most valuable stakeholders - employees and business owners. To do so, we offer coaching and advisory programmes that foster independence, inclusivity, and integration.

My career has been defined by service. I originally studied to be a Spanish to English translator, and my first job was assisting a public lawyer who specialised in immigration cases. At the same time, I used my language skills to help guide political refugees arriving to the Netherlands to the resources they needed.

After that, I moved into more international work in the travel industry, then into information communication and technology. This was the role that led me to executive coaching, as I served in a variety of positions including operations and people manager, department head, sales delivery, and others. It was an intensive study of the different skills for sales, customer service, engineering/IT, communications, marketing, and leadership. I experienced how different cultures work together and how you can maintain (and even grow!) productivity through taking time for training and coaching.

Across my entire career, I’ve served, guided, taught, managed, and coached humans from different countries, cultures, and roles. I’ve seen the incredible change it can make to a business, to a team, and to a person. Let’s discuss if it’s a change we can make for you, too.

About my accreditations

Anyone can call themselves a coach - but it is important to ensure that any coach you work with is properly credentialed and trained. The International Coaching Federation (ICF) is one of the most respected international governing bodies for executive coaches, and their certifications denote experts who have surpassed demanding educational and experience standards and have proven a profound mastery of the gold-standard competencies for our industry. Additionally, as part of the ICF's objective to safeguard and assist coaching clients, we are required to abide by strong ethical standards.

I am a credentialed coach and member of the International Coaching Foundation, specialising in career coaching/career management, team coaching, coaching leadership, coaching through change, and coaching towards conflict resolution.

I also studied and graduated from the UK Coaching Academy in 2011 with a focus on Corporate & Executive Coaching.
